China-based smartphone maker OnePlus has just confirmed that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6T will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The company also shared a screenshot of how the lock screen of the upcoming device will look in a statement. This confirms the rumors floating on the internet that the company was going to follow its T-launch cycle with OnePlus 6T. This comes months after the company launched its current flagship, the OnePlus 6 in the market. As reported previously, the device is also likely to come with a waterdrop notch on the display.
The company shared a statement with CNET along with the screenshot to talk about the number of ways a user can unlock their device. OnePlus pointed out that users unlock their devices “multiple times” during the course of the day. Options such as “Face Unlock”, and “Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps” that are used to unlock the device. The company clarified that it had initially planning to launch the in-display fingerprint scanning technology with the OnePlus 5T but the technology behind this feature was not “mature enough” to meet the quality and reliability standards that the company had established for “a fast and smooth user experience”.

As part of the tease, the official Twitter handle of OnePlus posted a 6-second video which showed what appears to be a ‘Swipe up to access the app drawer’ or ‘Swipe up to unlock’ the device button.
The button continues to blink with a silhouette shape in the background. Some users speculated that the announcement may have to do something with the OnePlus Bullets Wireless. We will have to wait for the official statement by OnePlus to confirm.
