Confirming its teaser posted yesterday, OnePlus has announced that it will retain the 3.5mm audio jack on the OnePlus 5T. OnePlus is currently prepping for the launch of the OnePlus 5 successor, the OnePlus 5T which is due to happen anytime soon. In a detailed post, OnePlus explains its decision to retain the audio jack on the OnePlus 5T. OnePlus has also conducted a poll on Twitter asking its fans their opinion on the audio jack.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau points out audio quality and user freedom as two core reasons behind this decision. According to OnePlus’ survey, 70 percent of the users said that audio quality was a priority. Although there are impressive wireless headphones which offer great audio quality, OnePlus says that the options are limited under the $200 (approximately Rs 13,000) price bracket. OnePlus also discovered through its survey that almost 80 percent of its users prefer in-jack headphones.

Pete Lau says that the company did think of ditching the audio jack to replace it with a USB Type-C port. This would benefit them since the OnePlus 5T would have a slimmer build. However, taking user views into consideration, the company decided not to. This will surely be good news to all OnePlus fans out there.
