Jaiveer Shergill hits back at Sambit Patra over AgustaWestland chopper scam, says 'Congress fought corruption, BJP fights for corrupt'


After BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed the Congress was “fully rattled” by the extradition of Christian Michel, Congress chief Jaiveer Shergill hit again on the saffron celebration, accusing it of  “combating for the corrupt”.

“If the Congress has fought corruption, BJP fights for the corrupt,” Shergill mentioned, referring to the politically-sensitive Rs 3,600-crore UPA period AgustaWestland chopper deal case.

Shergill claimed the BJP has all the time defended corruption, “Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s daughter defended Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi. Vasundhara Raje defended Lalit Modi in London.”  If on the one hand the Congress “penalised” the corrupt in AgustaWestland case, the BJP has given them “revenue”, Shergill alleged. The Congress chief additionally launched an assault on the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), calling the company “Consolation Bureau of investigation”.

Accusing the company of behaving like a “remote-control hawk of Narendra Modi authorities”, Shergill requested if it will examine the BJP-AugustaWestland nexus of “accomodating, together with, welcoming the corporate into India”.

Earlier Thursday, Patra alleged that the Congress despatched its staff of attorneys to defend Michel. Patra mentioned Youth Congress chief Aljo Okay Joseph appeared for Michel in courtroom Wednesday and the Congress later went by way of the “charade” of eradicating him.

The All India Congress Committee Wednesday announced the removal of Joseph, saying he didn’t “seek the advice of with the Youth Congress” earlier than showing for AgustaWestland chopper rip-off case.

Michel, the alleged intermediary within the politically-sensitive Rs 3,600-crore UPA period deal, was delivered to India from Dubai Tuesday evening following his extradition.
