Andy Rubin’s company recently announced a price drop of its Essential PH-1 smartphone. Launched in May at $699 (approximately Rs 45,000), the smartphone’s price was reduced to $499 (approximately Rs 32,500). This offer is currently valid for interested users who register for the smartphone before November 15. As for those who already purchased the Essential PH-1, they are entitled to a $200 Friends & Family code.

This gift card can be also be used against a new Essential Phone or the Essential 360 Camera. Shared on Twitter by JoeSPOOKester, with the reduced $200 and added discount of $200, one can get the Essential PH-1 at an effective price of $350 (approximately Rs 22,800). In case you’re wondering about the additional $51, it’s taxes. As for the Essential 360 Camera, it is priced at $199 (approximately Rs 13,000) so with the $200 gift card, you ‘essentially’ get it for free, exclusive of taxes. According to Niccolo de Masi, President and COO of Essential, the new offers are made to “make it even easier for you to experience our products and our band.” The price drop also comes at a very strategic time of the Google Pixel 2 series, the iPhone 8 series currently on sale in the US. The iPhone X is also scheduled to go on sale from November 3 with pre-orders currently underway. To recall, the Essential PH-1 flaunts a 5.7-inch Quad HD edge-to-edge display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. At the heart of the smartphone, is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For photography, the Essential PH-1 sports a dual-camera setup at the rear, which is a pair of 13-megapixel regular and monochrome sensors of f/1.85 aperture. On the software front, it runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The smartphone is fuelled by a 3,040mAh battery. Its connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS. The smartphone also features a rear fingerprint sensor. It however doesn’t come with a 3.5mm audio jack.
