‘Each establishment Sardar Patel helped construct is being smashed,’ tweets Rahul Gandhi after Narendra Modi unveils Statue of Unity


New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused the federal government of “treason”, saying there was a “systematic destruction” of establishments that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had helped construct.

His remarks got here after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘Statue of Unity’ of Patel in Gujarat.

The 182-metre statue, the world’s tallest, has been constructed on an islet close to the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Narmada district. It’s twice the peak of the Statue of Liberty within the US.

Taking a swipe at Modi, the Congress chief tweeted, “Ironic {that a} statue of Sardar Patel is being inaugurated, however each establishment he helped construct is being smashed.”

“The systematic destruction of India’s establishments is nothing wanting treason,” he stated.

In another tweet, Gandhi stated Patel was a patriot, who fought for a unbiased, united and secular India.

“A person with a steely will, tempered by compassion, he was a Congressman to the core, who had no tolerance for bigotry or communalism. On his delivery anniversary, I salute this nice son of India,” he tweeted.
