Chinese scientists now send a hackproof Snapchat like ‘Self Destruct’ code from Space to Earth using Quantum Satellite

Published

Always trust the Chinese to do the unthinkable. They have come a long way from reverse-engineering products made in United States, Japan, and South Korea to build their own hack proof quantum satellite. Even in light of people making jokes about Chinese products being third class, their scientists are toiling hard to make new breakthroughs in teleportation tech which we had reported earlier. Now the Chinese scientists have made a new record by using their quantum satellite to send an unbreakable hack-proof code which will self-destruct if it is accessed by an unauthorized person or is tampered with.

Most people associate self-destruct tech with Snapchat so it would be right to call that Chinese scientists have managed to send “unbreakable” Snapchat code from a satellite to the Earth which will self-destruct in case if it is accessed by an unauthorized person or tampered with. China was the first country to teleport a ‘Photon’ 500 km into space like we used to see in the Star Trek movies and in the Star Trek TV show. Now Chinese have created another record by marking the first time space-to-ground quantum key distribution technology.

The teleportation and now the unbreakable code were sent using world’s first quantum satellite that China launched last August, to help establish “hack proof” communications, a development the Pentagon has called a “notable advance”.

The satellite sent totally hack-proof quantum keys to ground stations in China between 645 km (400 miles) and 1,200 km (745 miles) away at a transmission rate up to 20 orders of magnitude more efficient than an optical fibre, Xinhua cited Pan Jianwei, lead scientist on the experiment from the state-run Chinese Academy of Sciences, as saying. “That, for instance, can meet the demand of making an absolute safe phone call or transmitting a large amount of bank data,” Pan said.

“That, for instance, can meet the demand of making an absolute safe phone call or transmitting a large amount of bank data,” Pan said.

What makes Chinese scientists attempt to send the unbreakable code from space to Earth is its self-destruct feature. Any attempt to eavesdrop on the quantum channel would introduce detectable disturbances to the system and make it destroy itself. “Once intercepted or measured, the quantum state of the key will change, and the information being intercepted will self-destruct,” Xinhua said.

The above news has to be taken with a pinch of salt as no other scientists from the world fraternity have confirmed it. China still lags behind the United States, India, and Russia in space technology though China is attempting to close in on the difference.

This has been published in the journal Nature on Thursday.

“I think it is a great book because I have seen all the pictures much before they have released. All the pictures are really nice and beautiful,” he said in a media interaction.

Katrina Kaif, Salim Khan, Helen, Salman Khan, Baba Siddique, Priya Dutt and many more also attended the book launch.

Salman also said that every time, his movie is nearing release, Kak comes out with a book.

“I don’t understand whether we are here promoting Tiger Zinda Hai or her book.

“It had happened earlier, I was doing Sultan with Ali Abbas Zafar, we were planning on going to Ranthambhore, at that time Bina issued a book on a tiger named Sultan, but the plan didn’t work out. Now Tiger Zinda Hai is coming and her book is also releasing at the same time,” he said.

Salman also shared yet another funny story concerning Kak.

“Every time Bina Kak visits a jungle, my life turns into a mess. She sends me 50 photographs every day. So I am like this is good, incredible, I would send her long messages but, in time, it went from ‘very nice’ to ‘nice’ and then ‘hmm’ and eventually I would send her only ‘K’,” he added.

Salman Khan will be next seen in Tiger Zinda Hai opposite Katrina. The film, helmed by Zafar, releases on 22 December.

In the wake of sexual harassment and misconduct revelations against some of the biggest and powerful names in Hollywood, there has been another addition to the long list of sexual harassers that include the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Louis CK, Matt Lauer to name a few.

According to a report by Variety, a Hong Kong-based film executive Bey Logan, who has had professional and personal relationship with the disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, has been accused of sexual misconduct.

Hong Kong’s HK01, in one of its detailed investigative reports around the #MeToo campaign, had first brought the news of Logan’s misconduct when an unnamed actress alleged that Logan was an accomplice as well as a participant in many instances of sexual misconduct.

It was reported that Logan, who is also a martial arts expert, would harass actresses on and off the sets. In addition to that it is also alleged that he sent actresses to Harvey Weisnstein’s hotel room whenever he was in the city where acts of sexual misconduct were forced upon those actresses.

A total of seven women have reported against Logan to HK01. One of these actresses happen to be the Indonesian-Chinese actress Sable Yu who was the lead actress in the film Snowblade that was helmed by Logan himself. She said he had told her during the film’s production that sleeping with Weinstein would only open better opportunities. Also, she was subjected to sexual assault by him which ranged from walking naked to completely inappropriate moves.

However, Logan maintained that “many of the accusations made against me are either untrue or taken out of context. I categorically deny any criminal wrongdoing. I have never forced myself on a woman.” He further added that he will “now step back and take time to reflect on my behavior and the values which I should uphold.”
