Agatha Christie’s ‘The Mirror Crack’d’ To Be Staged At NCPA In Mumbai
A traditional whodunit set within the fictional village of St Mary Mead, the story follows Miss Marple’s investigation of the suspicious loss of life of native villager Heather Badcock at American actor Marina Gregg’s residence. Gregg’s character was immortalised on the silver display by Elizabeth Taylor within the 1980 movie, The Mirror Crack’d.
This manufacturing stars Sonali Kulkarni (pictured above), Shernaz Patel, Meher Acharia- Dar, Avantika Akerkar and Suhaas Ahuja and is ready in 1976 in an idyllic city in Goa. Kulkarni essays the character of Mamta Ghosh, a Bollywood actor, whose fortunes are on the wane. She throws a glamorous social gathering at her manor solely to have it finish in homicide. Senior inspector Darius Chinoy (Denzil Smith) enlists the assistance of his pal and rival, Miss Mistry (Shernaz Patel), to unravel the crime.
The English play is a collaboration between British manufacturing corporations Wales Millennium Centre and Wiltshire Creative Production. It’s directed by British theatre director Melly Still, whose credit embody variations of Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones, Elena Ferrante’s My Brilliant Friend, Terry Pratchett’s Nation and Jamila Gavin’s Coram Boy. The play has been tailored for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff, greatest recognized for her adaptation of Paula Hawkin’s The Girl on the Train, and has been reimagined for the Indian stage by author Ayeesha Menon.
